\\n
\\nLuke 22:31-32King James Version (KJV)

\\n31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

\\n32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not: and when you have returned, strengthen thy brethren.

\\nIn this chapter, Jesus gives instruction for his disciples to occupy the place where they will prepare the Passover meal. Satan immediately comes on the scene to wreak havoc, as he comes into Judas. Judas makes a covenant to betray Jesus!

\\n
\\nWhen Jesus sits at the table with His disciples, He communicates His deep desire to sup with them before He suffers and communicates, by virtue of the last supper that He IS the Passover Meal! Jesus then releases the betrayer to put the wheels in motion for the New Passover to begin, and grants another moment of clarity in the midst of all of the dramatic action, in vs. 31 and 32:

\\n
\\nOf which we will glean 7 life application power points that the Spirit of God elucidates for us today.

\\n1. Satan has desired to sift Simon Peter as wheat. To sift is to shake and bang against the edges of an instrument that is designed to break that which is being sifted.

\\n2. Sifting is designed to refine that which is being sifted to prepare it for a greater use that it cannot fulfill in its previous state. In the case of wheat, tares and chaff are broken off and the essential part of the wheat is separated from the rest and filtered through.

\\n3. The enemy may want to shake you up, and break you up, but God wants to take you up! God wants to refine you and prepare you for greater works of service.

\\n4. Jesus says, "I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not, and when, not if, but when you return, strengthen the brethren."

\\n5. You may be going through a period of shaking and breaking, and maybe even baking right now. While the enemy desires to disrupt and distort you, God intends for you to reflect upon and stand upon His promises that your faith will sustain you through the trials and tribulations of this season.

\\n6. On the other side of this season of trial you will be more seasoned for trials. You may be stronger, wiser, more compassionate for others going through trials similar to what you have experienced.

\\n7. You will have been refined, refreshed, renewed, enabled, empowered, and strengthened to strengthen others. Do just that!

\\nThe results are in! Yes Satan is busy. As John 10:10 states, "The devil comes, but to kill, steal, and destroy, but Christ has come that you might have life, and have it more abundantly."

\\nMay we be victorious through the grace given by the Victorious One - Jesus the Christ! Amen.

Season of Expectation III - Joy

Joy!
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

“Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise the words of the prophets, but test everything; hold fast to what is good; abstain from every form of evil.

“May the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

“The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do this.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-24, NRSV.)

If we seek Jesus, who is born in the manger, shouldn’t we: …be at peace among ourselves?
…help the weak and the poor?
…not repay evil for evil, but always do good to one another?
          …in all circumstances, give thanks?

In that posture we receive the Christ and proclaim His coming with Joy!

Join us as we proclaim together: COME, LORD JESUS. AMEN.

Joy
We look forward with great anticipation, as we reflect on the Love of Christ in the second coming of the Messiah. As prepare for Christ's return may wee remember the words of John the Baptizer’s message, preparing the way of the Lord:

"…make straight the paths

…repent of your sins

                 …be baptized

…and live holy lives devoted to God."

Join us as we declare together: COME, LORD JESUS. AMEN.

What do you anticipate with joy? What are you seeking God for?

Week I - Hope!
"Lord we lift your name on high, and we love to sing your praises. We're so glad you're in our lives. We're so glad you came to save us. You came from Heaven to Earth to show the way; from the Earth to the Cross, our debt to pay; from the Cross to the Grave, from the Grave to the sky. Lord we lift your name on high!" Rick Founds

Our Heavenly Father, we worship you. Our hope rests in You alone. You are the God who does awesome deeds that we did not expect! You have come down from on high, sending your precious Son Jesus to make your presence tangible. You work wonders for those who wait for you. Thank you for sending your Spirit to work in our lives. Give us patience as we wait for the revealing of your glorious kingdom. May the gifts and offerings we present today serve your purposes as we await your coming in glory. Come soon, Lord Jesus! Amen. (Isaiah 64)

As we eagerly anticipate, yet patiently await Christ's return , we continue to celebrate His goodness and His love.
Feel free to share your joys, hopes, and your concerns with your brothers and sisters here at FaithWorks.
