About Us

Faith Works Christian Center was founded by Pastors Emery & Stephanie Barber in obedience to the call of Jesus Christ in 2007. The Lord has inspired us to broadcast the message that "Faith in God Works Indeed." Faith in the God who saves us, is the same faith through which we can be delivered, made whole, reshaped and rearranged to the glory of God. It is that same faith that heals us of our sin and disease, and postures one to pursue excellence in Christ. FaithWorks Christian ministry is about Proving God at his Word time and time again.
We began fellowship with Bible Study, Prayer, and Worship through the FaithWorks Christian Center, which included our online internet resources, our FaithWorks Tele-center and later added Media Connect - a teleconference and videoconference that unites brothers and sisters in Christ from all over the world. In March of 2010 we began assembling for worship at JFK airport, where we worshiped for a year and a half. After which we sought another worship space, and found a blessed fellowship with Church of God Missions in Jamaica, NY where Pastor Dominic Nwozuzu graciously allowed us to assemble for afternoon service. Our steps have been ordered in loving fellowship to Open Bible Churches, where we have been graced with the covering of Bishop Richard Vedilago, and Shepherd's House, OBC, where Emery and Stephanie pastor the new Prayer Band Tabernacle branch in Ocean Hill, NY.
After the model of the early church we have engaged ministry from house to house through our Faith Group ministries, as well as online through FaithWorks Media Center. As we continue to minister to the people of God in the various areas of the Kingdom, we trust that our faithful God will continue to use us for his glory and the good of others.
Stephanie is a stander. She has been called to stand for God on His Word with those who believe God in intercession for their health, marriage, children, finances, or whatever the concern and burden may be in line with God's will and purpose for their lives. She is a prayer-warrior and a co-laborer in the gospel with her husband Pastor Barber. Stephanie suffered from an unidentifiable auto-immune disease for over two years. The doctors were ready to give up hope, but she never lost her hope and faith in God. During this time God told her to stand on His Word and see his glory. She stood on his promises and on his infallible Word. In 2007 the Lord healed her of the disease. She is grateful and wants to tell all that faith indeed works and that the race isn't given to the swift, but to the one who endures unto the end. Our God is able!
Emery B. Barber is a devoted husband and father, preacher, teacher, musician, and psalmist of the Lord. Emery, a graduate of New York Theological Seminary, gained much of his pastoral experience in full time ministry at Springfield Gardens United Methodist Church, where he served as the Associate Minister, Director of Worship and Music, under the leadership of Rev. Cecil B. Stone for five years. He was privileged to extend that experience in pastoral ministry assisting Rev. Delroy Murdock at St. Paul's UMC in Brooklyn, NY for nearly four years. Emery co-founded FaithWorks Christian Fellowship at Kennedy Airport, which now continues as an online ministry resource for the Kingdom of God. Emery and Stephanie continue their journey of faith as pastors of the Shepherd's House, Prayer Band Tabernacle branch.
Like many on the battlefield for the Lord, God has brought Emery and Stephanie through their share of wilderness experience, and God has allowed them to come forth in victory. Together they find great joy in nurturing the flock of their "first church" - their family. Called to continue to tend to the Lord's flock in the Kingdom of God, they press forward in the anointing of Christ. It is our hearts desire to respond to God's awesome splendor in true worship and praise, preaching and teaching of God's Word, and encouraging others to do the same even amidst life's challenges and issues.
Please pray for our continued strength and success in the work of the Lord, and feel welcome to come and partake of Faith Works Christian Ministries, a family of faith engaging worship, declaring praise, and proving God at His Word ...again, and again!
