Thinking Out of the Box - A Resurrection Mindset

A couple of years ago we were on a youth retreat at Eddy Farms when we realized that our vision of the glory of God in the area we were camping in was obscured by the mountains all around us. Realizing we were down in the valley as it were, we decided to climb higher. As we reached the peak of the mountain we were able to see things from a new and refreshing perspective, as it seemed we were in the clouds! The Word of God declares to us today that Christ’s resurrection necessitates a true change of perspective, a new paradigm, in light of a new reality. Paul is inspired to write in the book of Romans and the 12th chapter, “I beseech you brethren, by the mercies of God that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God which is your reasonable act of worship.” God is telling us that after all that has been done for us, it’s only reasonable to walk in holiness as a living sacrificial offering unto God. But it doesn’t stop there! And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God!

When we conform to this world, which is in enmity with God, we draw further and further away from the King of Kings, because the wages of sin is death or separation from God! But as we allow ourselves to be transformed by the renewing of our minds we draw closer to Christ, we abide in Christ. Jesus said if ye abide in me you shall produce much fruit! God is calling his people to a Resurrection Mindset! Romans the 5th chapter Paul said, Christ died, we died in Him, Christ was buried, we were buried in Him, Christ rose we rise through Him! Col. 3:1 says, Since then we have been risen in Christ, set your mind on things above and not on the things of this earth. For you died and your life is now hidden in Jesus Christ.

A Resurrection Mindset calls us to the place that we realize that the same power that raised Jesus from the dead is available to quicken our mortal bodies on the day of Christ’s return. But not only that, His resurrection power can revive a dead marriage! A resurrection mindset is one that can operate no longer in fear, but must be permeated by faith; Faith in the Word of God, faith in the promises of God. It says, “I am, because God says I am. I’m healed because God says I’m healed. I’m more than a conqueror, through Him who loves me. I am, because God says I am!” It is not limited by the seen thing of this world nor the limitations of this existence. The doctors of this world may say, “You are sick and there is no cure.” And if you conform to the mindset of the world, you will find yourself depressed, despondent and hopeless! The resurrection mindset says, that is being renewed and transformed by the hearing of God’s Holy Word, recall the prophetic mandate that we celebrate today, that He was wounded for my transgressions, bruised for my iniquities, that the chastisement that bring us peace even now, was upon Him, and by His stripes I am healed!

Some of you are walking around on pins and needles, because you think your boss is the one who makes it possible for you to pay your bills, but God is calling us to a resurrection mindset where stand upon God’s Word, Deut. 8 that states that, “God is the one who gives us strength to earn wealth.” Amen. For the Lord shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory!

When we operate with a Resurrection Mindset, we will be empowered to do what God has called us to do, without fear or reservation. Like Esther we’ll be able to fight for the lives of others declaring, “If I perish, I perish.” Like Job we’ll be able to declare, “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” Like Paul, we can declare, “Oh that I may know Christ and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering.” And when the enemy comes against us we will walk by faith and not by sight, declaring, “Greater is He that is in me, than He that is in the world.”

Every head bowed. Every eye closed. (Invitation to Christian Discipleship) If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, we pray that this will be the day of your salvation. We were all born in sin and shaped in iniquity, but Christ offers us an opportunity to die to our sinful nature and be thus born again through Jesus Christ. The Bible says if any man be born in Christ, He is a new creature. Old things are passed away and all things become new. This is your time for a new beginning through Christ Jesus. If you would like to step outside of the box into a fresh perspective with Christ today, come now and declare Jesus Christ as Lord over your life.

HE IS LORD. HE IS LORD. HE IS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE AND HE IS LORD. EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW. EVERY TONGUE CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.

In His Service,
Pastor Emery Barber
