Ash Wednesday

Remember you are dust, and to dust you shall return. Ash Wednesday began the wilderness journey of our Consecration Season. Ashes have connotations of mourning and death dating to ancient times. (“from ashes to ashes…”) Dusting oneself with ashes is a believer’s way of expressing sorrow for sins. The service typically includes what is traditionally known as “the imposition of the ashes”, where worshippers receive the marking of a cross in ash on their forehead as a sign of repentance.
This year, if your church is doing an Ash Wednesday service, remember the joy connected to this season: We were made from the earth, but not for the earth. We were made for God. When we confess our sins unto the Lord, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
Isn't it a joy to know that we're just passing through?
Sincerely,
